The Dongkhamxang Agriculture Technical College (DATC) is located in Dongkhamxang Village, Hatxayfong District, Vientiane Capital. The college was established in 1985 upon the approval of the Mayor of Vientiane Capital and was renamed to “Dongkhamxang Vocational School”. 1n 1987, the college officially offered its first study programmes in three major sectors: crop production, livestock, and forestry.
In 1996, the school changed its name to “Dongkhamxang Agriculture Technical School” and was transferred to the Department of TVET of the Ministry of Education and Sports. In the school year 2013-2014, more study programmes were offered in Agro-machinery. The school started offering Level 4 DCT-farmer programme with the support from GIZ-VELA in the 2016-2017 school year. It was upgraded to a college and renamed to its current name in 2018. This school year (2019-2020) DATC is running its third batch of students from the DCT programme. Currently, the total number of DCT-enrolled students is 129.
DATC is planning to offer Level 5 DCT programmes in three professions: farm manager, crop specialist, and livestock specialist. DATC has been collaborating with about 50 farms and companies (nine of which have signed MoUs with the college) to further support the students in practical training.
