Lao-German Technical College (LGTC) was founded in 1964 as part of Germany’s development aid to Laos during that time.

LGTC’s vision is to become the model and leading TVET institution in Laos by continuously striving to improve its quality, personnel, facilities and training materials through the guidance and support of MoES as well as various cooperation with various organisations and private companies to ensure that LGTC stays relevant to the market trends. LGTC is currently the largest state TVET institution in the central region of Laos.

To achieve this, LGTC continuously strives to improve its quality, personnel, facilities and training materials through guidance and support of MoES as well as cooperation with various organisations and private companies to ensure that our institution stay up to date with the market trends. The college offers a range of degrees from ‘skilled worker’ to a ‘higher diploma’ and are divided into six main sectors and each sector has its own well-equipped workshop. The majority of more than 2,000 students are in the Automotive and Electrical sector. Student support services inclusive of career guidance to aid employment chances upon graduation are provided to the students.

LGTC has implemented several DCT programmes since the college is closely connected with the Dual Cooperative system from Germany. As the programmes were designed in collaboration with the industry, LGTC has partnered with more companies to provide a more effective and practice-oriented vocational education. So far, LGTC signed MoUs with more than 20 major local businesses and cooperated with more than 8 international universities as well as international companies. These partnerships strengthen the skills of our students as well as our TVET personnel through hands-on experience and exchanges learning.

LGTC’s key missions are to be the practice-oriented college in providing training that meets market demands; assuring continuity of DCT delivery and quality standard; expanding cooperation networks locally, regionally and internationally for exchanging best practices as well as common challenges as reference for better application.
